Editorial: Role of hypoxia- inducible factors in metabolic immune cell adaptation during sepsis
In collaboration with Prof. Leon Nicolas Schulte from the German Center for Lung Research in Giessen, Germany and my dear colleague Prof. Eduardo López-Collazo from the TumourImmunology Laboratory at IdiPAZ in Madrid, we have edited a research topic focused on the role of hypoxia-inducible factors in metabolic immune cell adaptation during sepsis.
Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection that remains a leading cause of death in intensive care units worldwide. This research topic includes a collection of up to five articles trying to understand the role of the hypoxia-inducible factors as mediators of sepsis-related clinical conditions such as COPD or delirium.
